Description of Work
Salary Range: $35984 - $62971This position is assigned to Pasquotank Correctional Institution located in Elizabeth City NC. Work in this class involves first-line supervision to correctional Officers I increasing the custody and security coverage. Position assigns lower-level custody staff to a particular area or post.

Employees oversee officer activities and performance and ensure that the custody security and welfare of inmates is maintained. Employees arrange work schedules to ensure shift coverage implement operational procedures and ensure
rules and regulations are followed according to policy. Position reports directly to a Correctional Housing Unit Manager I and/or a Correctional Housing Unit Manager II. Ensures that staff is fully trained and that proper conduct actions and procedures are followed. Maintains facility security through regular inspections to ensure compliance with governing regulations and standards relating to facility
maintenance and health and safety of inmates. Gives direction during drills searches and in emergencies. May lead staff in carrying out tactical assignment(s). Responds to emergency situations searches for escaped offenders and transports offenders. Conducts and/or supervises searches of offenders their living quarters and work areas for contraband. Investigates and takes action where appropriate regarding security issues incidents disputes and complaints. Prepares and reviews reports.
Management Preference:
- Knowledge of Facility Operations.
- Knowledge of Prisons Policy and Procedures.
The Prisons Eastern Region prefers candidates with no less than 2 years work experience as a Correctional Officer.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.

If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Minimum Education and Experience

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience as a correctional officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
