Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to provide technical support maintenance and troubleshooting for plant electrical and automation systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining PLC-based control systems supporting operations teams and ensuring maximum equipment reliability and uptime during the 3rd shift.
Key Responsibilities
Automation & Controls: Troubleshoot maintain and support PLC and Safety PLC systems (e.g. Allen-Bradley ControlLogix GuardLogix) and HMI systems (Wonderware/AVEVA PanelView).
Electrical Maintenance: Diagnose and repair 480VAC three-phase systems 120VAC circuits and 24VAC/VDC control circuits.
Equipment Reliability: Maintain industrial robots vision systems motors drives and instrumentation (flow meters load cells etc.).
Technical Support: Serve as a subject matter expert for operations and engineering teams; document all hardware/software modifications and maintain control system records.
Continuous Improvement: Support initiatives aimed at improving plant efficiency and ensuring full compliance with safety standards and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Required Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of plant technical experience OR 3 years of relevant experience plus a 2-year technical degree.
PLC Expertise: Hands-on experience troubleshooting and programming PLCs/Safety PLCs using ladder logic sequencer programming and Add-On Instruction (AOI) blocks.
Technical Skills: Ability to read/interpret electrical schematics and deep understanding of industrial electrical systems.
Flexibility: Willingness to work 3rd shift weekends and overtime as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate Degree in Electrical Technology Automation Mechatronics or related field.
Experience with Wonderware/AVEVA System Platform and Microsoft SQL databases.
Basic understanding of Cisco networking/industrial LAN and CAD drawing modifications.
