Job Description

The Manufacturing Controllership team is looking for an innovative forward-thinking detail-oriented analyst to join their team. The Manufacturing Sr Finance Analyst is responsible for understanding GMs end-to-end inventory processes including investment operations systems financials and the related control environment. The role requires a high level of independent judgment and initiative decision making and serving as a strategic business partner across the enterprise to bring timely and insighted decisions.

What Youll Do

  • Coordinate monitor and analyze results of plant inventory counts and annual physical inventory processes

  • Oversight of lower of cost or net realizable value (LCNRV) adjustments on inventory

  • Analysis and reporting of month-end inventory balances including GMNA inventory balances associated P&L impacts and global inventory footnote disclosure in GMs 10Q/K

  • Support and collaborate with Global Business Solutions (GBS) inventory and product costing teams to ensure compliance with APM requirements effective controls and accurate reporting

  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Management Finance to ensure alignment of financial results budget/forecast impacts and any required disclosures

  • Navigate and understand various systems impacting inventories/product costing including Material Global Optimization (MGO) Global Product Costing (GPC) and financial reporting of inventories across eSAP Global Ledger FINCORE GCARS/OneStream

  • Utilize new technologies and solutions to create more robust controls process efficiencies and impactful reporting packages

  • Presentation of financial results to other members of the organization including leadership

  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests

  • Develop strong relationships with business partners support requests/inquiries including Controllership Finance IT and various other operational partners

  • Maintain controls and work with Financial Assurance and external auditors to support audit requirements streamline existing business processes and develop new/enhanced control procedures

  • Model GMs desired behaviors including safety

  • Actively promote GMs culture of inclusion

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in accounting finance business or related field

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) (preferred)

  • Public accounting firm experience (preferred)

  • 5 years of relevant experience (preferred)

  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to understand and apply accounting and financial reporting standards (US GAAP)

  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects take on additional responsibilities and deliver within restricted time constraints

  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork and partnerships

  • Focus on learning and personal development

  • Ability to embrace and manage change

Desired Qualifications

  • Develop a detailed understanding of GMs processes and systems to identify control gaps and any opportunities to streamline processes and controls

  • Assist with internal and external financial reporting including analyzing consolidated results drafting SEC documents and management review reports

  • Research and interpret new accounting standards and brainstorm how each apply to GM as well as comply with external 10Q/10K reporting requirements

  • Support strategic initiatives and transformation activities

  • Develop analytics and tools to provide insights into the results for business units and regions

  • Recommend types of automations analytics and data processing approaches to meet business objectives

  • Initiate and support enhancements that improve the quality and speed of the monthly close process

  • Resolve complex accounting issues impacting strategic business initiatives and identify potential accounting risks

  • Complete special assignments outside of core job responsibilities

  • Manufacturing inventory and/or product costing experience

Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the - Global HQ Warren MI three times per week at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business
