Position Overview
A growing commercial real estate company is seeking a strong hands-on Controller to oversee the accounting and financial operations across a portfolio of commercial properties.
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who can take ownership of the accounting department manage and develop a team ensure financials are accurate and timely and operate as a key partner to ownership. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented proactive organized and comfortable overseeing the full accounting function in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across multiple properties
- Manage month-end close and ensure accurate timely financial reporting
- Supervise accounts payable accounts receivable tenant billing and collections
- Review CAM reconciliations tenant ledgers and lease-related accounting
- Oversee payroll review reporting and financial allocations
- Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial statements
- Monitor budgets forecasts cash flow and overall financial performance
- Provide reporting and financial analysis to ownership and investors
- Manage and mentor the accounting team while improving workflows and processes
- Assist with audits tax preparation and regulatory compliance
- Help implement systems and process improvements to support company growth
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- 45 years of accounting experience required
- Prior experience in commercial real estate or property accounting preferred
- Experience overseeing accounting operations and managing staff preferred
- Strong understanding of financial reporting month-end close AP/AR and reconciliations
- Experience with CAM reconciliations and NNN leases preferred
- Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
- Experience with Yardi MRI AppFolio or similar property management/accounting systems preferred
- Strong organizational communication and leadership skills
- Ability to operate independently and take ownership of the function
