About the Opportunity
A booming heavy civil construction company is seeking a Contracts Manager to manage contract administration risk mitigation and compliance across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and construction projects. This role is heavily involved throughout the project lifecycle particularly during the bid negotiation and award phases ensuring contracts are structured to protect the companys interests and properly transfer risk.
What Youll Own
- Review prime contracts to identify contractual financial liability and compliance risks
- Draft negotiate and administer subcontracts purchase orders change orders and other contract documents
- Ensure proper risk transfer through indemnification insurance requirements waivers and subcontract language
- Conduct contract audits and support company-wide risk management initiatives
- Partner with project managers and leadership to resolve contractual issues and maintain compliance
- Manage contract administration throughout all project phases from bidding through closeout
- Review and interpret AIA EJCDC and ConsensusDocs agreements
- Maintain accurate contract records and documentation across 2530 active projects
- Support procurement and ongoing contract needs for projects that may span multiple years
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite Procore Trimble and other construction management platforms
Project Environment
- Approximately 20 projects awarded annually
- Project sizes ranging from under $25M to over $50M
- Multiple subcontractors vendors and purchase orders per project
- Long-duration projects that can extend up to four years
- Exposure to heavy civil engineering commercial and federally funded projects
What Were Looking For
- 35 years of construction contract administration or contract management experience
- Strong understanding of construction contracts risk allocation and compliance requirements
- Experience working with AIA EJCDC and ConsensusDocs agreements
- Knowledge of subcontracts purchase orders indemnification insurance requirements and liability provisions
- Ability to identify risks negotiate contract terms and protect company interests
- Excellent organizational analytical and communication skills
- Heavy civil infrastructure engineering or commercial construction experience preferred
- Familiarity with government-funded project requirements is a plus
