Job Summary |
As Operations Manager Delaware Basin at Metals NDT you will be responsible for leading day-to-day field operations technician performance safety execution customer support and service delivery for the company’s nondestructive testing and inspection services business in and around Hobbs NM. This role will support customers across oil and gas midstream pipeline facilities fabrication general contracting construction and other industrial markets.
This position reports directly to the General Manager West US and serves as a key operational leader for one of Metals NDT’s important field markets. The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring work is completed safely accurately efficiently and in accordance with customer requirements company procedures radiation safety requirements and applicable NDT codes and standards.
This role will also be expected to become highly proficient in Metals NDT’s operational workflows within FieldFX including estimating and proposals job setup scheduling dispatching field ticket review and employee timecard review. These workflows are critical to the company’s order-to-cash process and require strong coordination between field operations accounting billing sales and back-office support teams. The Operations Manager will help ensure that work is accurately initiated executed documented reviewed and handed off for timely billing and reporting.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on operations leader with strong technical credibility in NDT methods especially radiography and practical experience managing field technicians schedules equipment readiness customer expectations and job profitability in a fast-paced industrial services environment. This person must be comfortable balancing field execution compliance customer service systems discipline and team leadership while helping Metals NDT continue to grow and standardize operations across the Western US region. |
Key Responsibilities |
• Lead daily operations for the Delaware Basin market including technician scheduling job planning dispatch coordination field execution and customer support. • Utilize FieldFX as a core operational platform for estimating and proposal support job setup scheduling dispatching field ticket review and employee timecard review. • Ensure FieldFX workflows are followed consistently by local operations and field teams so that job information labor equipment materials travel and customer requirements are accurately captured throughout the order-to-cash process. • Review and validate field tickets technician timecards job notes service details and supporting documentation in FieldFX to ensure accuracy before handoff to accounting billing and back-office support teams. • Partner with sales accounting billing and administrative teams to resolve FieldFX workflow issues missing information job coding discrepancies customer documentation gaps and other items that could delay invoicing or impact cash flow. • Supervise coach and develop NDT technicians assistants drivers and support personnel to ensure safe high-quality and efficient service delivery. • Ensure all field work is performed in accordance with company procedures customer requirements radiation safety standards and applicable codes including ASNT ASME API AWS ISO NRC and state regulatory requirements. • Provide hands-on technical leadership for radiography and other NDT inspection methods including RT MT PT UT UTT and related field services. • Maintain strong oversight of radiation safety practices including X-ray truck operations source control restricted area setup survey requirements dosimetry documentation and technician compliance. • Coordinate with customers project managers contractors inspectors and field supervisors to confirm job scope schedules access requirements documentation needs and service expectations. • Monitor job performance technician utilization overtime travel equipment usage rework and other operating factors that affect profitability and customer satisfaction. • Ensure inspection reports field tickets work documentation and customer deliverables are accurate timely and complete. • Help drive adoption discipline and continuous improvement of FieldFX operating processes across the Delaware Basin team reinforcing the connection between field execution and accurate timely customer invoicing. • Partner with the General Manager West US to execute regional operating plans improve margins support growth initiatives and maintain consistent service standards. • Serve as a local escalation point for customer issues safety concerns schedule conflicts equipment challenges and field performance matters. • Support sales and business development efforts by maintaining strong customer relationships identifying additional service opportunities and providing technical input for bids or proposals. • Oversee equipment readiness fleet coordination calibration status preventive maintenance needs consumables and field tooling requirements. • Participate in incident reviews root-cause analyses corrective action plans safety meetings audits and continuous improvement initiatives. • Assist with recruiting onboarding training certification tracking and performance management for field personnel. • Promote a culture of accountability safety responsiveness professionalism and continuous improvement. • Perform additional operational and special project duties as assigned. |
Job Requirements |
• Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in nondestructive testing inspection services oilfield services industrial services or a related field environment. • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or operations leadership experience preferred. • Hands-on knowledge of radiography operations radiation safety X-ray truck operations and applicable regulatory requirements. • Current or prior ASNT Level II certification in RT required; additional certifications in MT PT UT UTT PAUT CWI or related methods strongly preferred. • Active or prior State Card and/or IRRSP certification strongly preferred. • Strong working knowledge of NDT codes procedures customer specifications field documentation and inspection reporting requirements. • Experience serving oil and gas midstream pipeline facilities fabrication construction general contracting or industrial maintenance customers. • Demonstrated ability to schedule field crews manage urgent customer needs allocate resources and maintain service quality under time-sensitive conditions. • Demonstrated ability to use learn or lead adoption of operational systems used for estimating proposals job scheduling dispatching field ticketing timekeeping and order-to-cash workflows. • Experience with FieldFX strongly preferred; experience with similar field service management dispatch ERP CRM or inspection management platforms will be considered. • Strong understanding of how operational data quality impacts billing accuracy revenue recognition customer satisfaction and overall cash flow. • Strong safety orientation and commitment to radiation safety field compliance and incident prevention. • Ability to manage technician utilization job efficiency overtime equipment readiness and local branch performance. • Strong communication leadership problem-solving and customer relationship skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn operational scheduling reporting and field documentation systems. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally and regionally as needed. • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training NDT coursework or related certifications preferred. |

• Prior leadership experience in the Delaware Basin Permian Basin or similar oil and gas operating region. • Experience managing radiography crews X-ray trucks night work outage support pipeline work fabrication inspection or facility-based inspection projects. • Familiarity with customer permitting site access JSA/JHA requirements stop-work authority confined space hot work and industrial PPE requirements. • Experience supporting multi-customer multi-crew operations with short-notice scheduling and high service expectations. • Experience using FieldFX or similar platforms for estimating proposals job scheduling dispatching digital field tickets employee timecards job costing and order-to-cash workflows. • Demonstrated experience improving field-to-back-office processes including reducing billing delays improving ticket accuracy strengthening timecard review and standardizing operational documentation. • Experience working with major operators midstream companies EPC firms fabrication shops general contractors and industrial construction customers. • Demonstrated ability to improve technician utilization reduce rework strengthen documentation practices and improve job-level profitability. |
Working Conditions |
• Based at Metals NDT’s Hobbs NM operations location with regular travel to customer sites field projects fabrication shops pipeline locations facilities and other industrial work environments. • Role requires frequent interaction with field technicians customers operations leadership sales safety quality accounting billing and administrative support teams. • Periodic early mornings evenings weekends night work and extended hours may be required to support customer schedules emergency work outages radiography operations and critical projects. • Work may involve exposure to industrial environments active construction sites oil and gas facilities fabrication yards outdoor weather conditions elevated work areas confined spaces and other field conditions. • Appropriate PPE fitness for duty safe driving practices and strict adherence to company and customer safety requirements are required. • Occasional regional travel may be required to support broader West US operations training customer needs or company initiatives. |
