AECOM is seeking a creative experienced licensed Architect eligible for reciprocity in other states or an architecturally trained professional in a New England state with special preference for Massachusetts or Bangor/mid-coast Maine area. The position may involve travel within New England. The Construction Site Representative will act as the firms primary representative during construction providing observation coordination and communication between the Owner Contractor and design team. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong understanding of construction administration and public-sector this role they would help solve design and technical issues on the construction site and in the office. As part of diverse teams this role will help organize and execute business development efforts meet client goals negotiate resolutions for challenging issues and ensure projects are delivered on time on budget and to the highest quality standards in coordination with Project Managers lead designers Principals BIM leaders QA/QC reviewers and other practice leadership.
Position Summary
The Construction Site Representative will assist the contractor in bringing the design to fruition utilizing their excellent communication skills sound technical knowledge while proactively identifying and resolving construction-related issues in the field. They will be the bridge between the design team and the site while also supporting the Project Manager. Providing diplomacy a collaborative spirit and advocacy for appropriate procedures in a remote capacity are essential aspects of this role.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conduct regular site visits and monitor construction progress for conformance with contract documents design intent and quality standards.
- Prepare detailed field reports documenting site observations construction progress and outstanding issues.
- Review and evaluate contractor requests for information (RFIs) submittals shop drawings and substitution requests in coordination with the project team.
- Attend and participate in construction meetings documenting discussions and action items.
- Coordinate with owners the designers contractors consultants and regulatory agencies throughout the construction process.
- Identify discrepancies potential conflicts and non-conforming work and communicate findings to the project team.
- Assist with review of quantities applications for payment and project closeout activities.
- Monitor project schedules.
- Actively help revolve construction challenges.
- Support punch list development substantial completion inspections and final project closeout.
- Reinforce safety guidelines at all times.
- Travel to construction sites and client meetings - travel can range from 10-30% depending upon your location
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Architecture plus 4 years of professional experience including significant construction administration and field observation experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid US Drivers License required to regularly drive AECOM vehicles to project sites and as a condition of employment must pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records Review
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with aviation/transportation municipal educational state federal and/or other public-sector projects strongly preferred.
- 8 years of experience
- Masters degree in Architecture
- Thorough understanding of construction documents contract terms and responsibilities building systems materials and construction practices.
- Familiarity with public procurement requirements regulatory approvals and public project delivery processes.
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes and accessibility requirements.
- Strong written verbal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with project teams and clients.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Proforma PMWeb and common architectural software platforms such as Revit and Bluebeam preferred.
- Willing and able to travel to work sites and client meetings as needed up to 30%.
