Construction Safety Specialist (EHS)

STRUCTURAL integrates technology-driven solutions with specialty contracting services to improve protect and enhance the existing infrastructure of owners directly and in partnership with designers and contractors. STRUCTURAL offers a wide range of specialty repair and maintenance services and is the largest concrete repair contractor in the United States with roughly 2500 employees working from locations nationwide and in select international markets. STRUCTURAL is the open-shop contracting business line of Structural Group.

We are seeking a motivated Safety Specialist to support and promote a strong safety culture across our projects. This role is ideal for early-career safety professionals looking to grow within construction and industrial environments while making a direct impact on jobsite safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assistingin the development of procedures for safety standards and best practices in a team environment through frequent interaction and open communication with managers employees subcontractors and clients.

• Conductingand coordinatingworker safety training in areas such as safety standardsand regulations hazardous condition monitoring and use of safety equipment for new and current employees.

• Ensuringcompliance with SPS OSHA customer state and local regulations; and supports safety efforts to continuously improve overall site safety culture.

• Workingunder the supervision of the SafetyManagerto conduct testing of air quality noise temperature etc. to verify compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Inspect work sites to ensure working conditions comply with OSHA NY DOB and company policies

• Conducting risk assessments related to jobs performed by employees and suggesting risk mitigation strategies

• Conduct respirator fit testing and maintain appropriate records

• Participate in Frontline safety program (weekly update calls observation reports and other proactive safety tactics)

• Participate in project planning discussions with emphasis on high-risk projects and high-risk or repetitive work tasks.

• Conductinginteractive training to help field personnel acquire necessary skills/knowledge/certifications

• Conduct all accident incident and near-miss investigations

• Workingwith jobsite personnel and project teams to perform root-cause analysts evaluate information and implement corrective solutions.

• Maintains records and develops reports on new or ongoing programs and program effectiveness; prepares statistical reports as required.

• Manage/ Facilitate Branch safety initiatives

• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the EHS Strategic Plan.

Qualifications

• Degree in EHS Safety Emergency Response or related field (or equivalent experience)

• 1-3 years of related safety experience in construction or industrial environments

• OSHA 30 certification (or ability to obtain)

• Additional certifications such as First Aid/CPR/AED Confined Space or Fall Protection are a plus

• Previous field construction experience

Core Competencies

• Strong understanding of construction safety standards and regulatory requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively with field teams and leadership

• Knowledge of hazard recognition and risk mitigation practices

• Basic understanding of structural systems and construction methods

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management tools (e.g. Procore SharePoint)

• Strong organizational and documentation skills
