Compliance Specialist

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Compliance Specialist to join our Property Management team where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our portfolio adheres to all federal state and local regulations. This position is critical for maintaining the integrity of our housing programs and safeguarding the interests of both our organization and the communities we serve. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of complex regulatory frameworks specifically within the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) sectors to drive operational excellence and mitigate risk across our assets.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough audits and reviews of property files to ensure strict adherence to LIHTC and HUD compliance standards.
  • Prepare and submit accurate regulatory reports to relevant government agencies and oversight bodies within mandated timelines.
  • Collaborate with property management teams to implement corrective actions and remediate any identified compliance gaps or violations.
  • Monitor changes in federal and state housing legislation to update internal policies and training materials accordingly.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and inspectors during routine and special examinations.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and records to support continuous compliance and facilitate seamless reporting processes.

Requirements
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in property management with a specialized focus on LIHTC and HUD regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in property management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration Public Policy or a related field is preferred.
