A well-established law firm is seeking an experienced Collections Paralegal to join its Community Associations Practice Group. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional to work closely with attorneys community association boards and property managers while managing a diverse portfolio of collections matters.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting a high-volume collections practice handling matters from referral through resolution. This position offers significant responsibility direct client interaction and the opportunity to further develop expertise in community association law collections procedures and legal case management within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a high-volume collections caseload from referral through resolution.
Communicate regularly with homeowners community association boards and property managers regarding account status and collections matters.
Prepare legal correspondence demand letters pleadings and other legal documents.
Monitor and track accounts payments deadlines and case activity using case management systems.
Calculate balances interest late fees costs and attorneys fees accurately.
Assist with liens judgments garnishments and other collection enforcement procedures.
Ensure compliance with Maryland collections procedures and applicable debt collection laws and regulations.
Negotiate payment arrangements and assist in resolving outstanding accounts.
Collaborate closely with attorneys and support staff to ensure efficient case progression.
Maintain accurate records while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of collections experience preferably within a law firm or Community Associations practice.
Experience managing a large deadline-driven caseload with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of Maryland collections procedures liens judgments garnishments and related regulations.
Experience using legal case management systems to track matters and deadlines.
Strong drafting skills with experience preparing legal correspondence and pleadings.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong negotiation and client service abilities.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word Excel and Outlook.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.
