BUILDING BRIGHTER FUTURES
The Cleveland Board of Education adopted the Building Brighter Futures (BBF) initiative on December 9 2025. Building Brighter Futures is a strategic and data-driven plan shaped by more than a year of community engagement information analysis and thoughtful deliberation. The goal of this plan is to strengthen enrollment and ensure scholars attend a newer school building that offers more educational opportunities including algebra in the eighth grade more sports and extracurricular activities and college credits and college and career pathways in high school. BBF is ensuring academic excellence so every CMSD scholar can thrive.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
Provides guidance supportand direction for students participating in Cleveland Metropolitan School District sports programs or other approved student activities.
Responsibilities
- Attend CMSD Pre-season meetings
- Understands and follows CMSD guidelines and rules
- Attends and arrives promptly to practices and games
- Will track communicate and complywith student eligibility status
- Submits roster schedule and transportation needs with the required paperwork to the athletic department and principal
- Distributes collects and cares for uniforms and equipment
- Participates in the scheduled professional development by the Athletics Department
- Uploadsscores and statistics to the approved CMSD reporting site
- Cooperates with the principal to implement the vision of the program
- Supervisesstudents before and after practiceand competitions
- Communicate effectively with parents staff and administrators
Qualifications
- Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate is required
- This position requires a Pupil-activity (coaching) permit from theOhio Department of Education. For all individuals who will direct superviseor coach a student activity programthat involves athletics routine or regular physical activity or activities with health and safety considerations.
- All athletic directors and theLicensing Departmenthave been provided with proof of securing these certifications. Applicants may contact theOffice of Interscholastic Athleticsto obtain additional information.
- Previous successful coaching experience is highly preferred
- Knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport/activity and a willingness to seek out new techniques aspectsor procedures for the sport/activity
