Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) - Tyndall AFB Panama City Florida - PART-TIME*

(Intertek-PSI) team working construction projects at Tyndall AFB near Panama City Florida. What are we looking for

TheCWI is responsible for employing their knowledge and training of welding processes test methods discontinuities materials qualifications and standards to ensure that weldments and weld-related activities comply with all applicable quality and safety criteria.

The ideal CWI candidate will be AWS certified willing to learn to perform construction materials testing and be able to access a military base. This is not a short-term turnaround / shutdown project. The CWI will support the ongoing construction projects at Tyndall AFB.

Work Schedule: Part-time On call / as needed 15-20 hours per week

Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skillset experience qualifications and other job-related duties. There is no turnaround / shutdown rate or per diem.

What youll do:

• Ensure compliance with safety and environment guidelines policies and regulations
• Testing and inspection of structural steel during erection on general building and pipeline sites as well as occasional plant inspections
• Inspect general construction and structural steel erection for buildings
• Perform visual inspections on welded products in progress and completed jobs
• Inspect welding jobs for defects such as cracks porosity undercut etc.
• Record results of tests and welding inspections
• Able to issue and follow up on non-conformances until the close out
• Plans and conducts the analysis inspection test and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component
• Reviews all welded products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept or reject the product
• Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities consistent with company policies and procedures
• Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management
• Inspect test or measure materials products installations or work for conformance to specifications
• Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as rulers calipers gauges or micrometers
• May also operates testing equipment and conducts testing (example: Soil concrete or other) and provides assessment of data through reporting
• Operates a calculator to calculate mathematical test results
• Must be aware of and adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work

Minimum Requirements & Certifications required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• MusthaveAWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification with D1.1 experience
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant CWI experiencerequired
• Must have a clean background to access a military base
• Ability to read blueprints andunderstand and interpret tolerances
• Computer Skills: Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
• Must be able to receive understand and execute written and verbal directions
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication
• Must be able to work well independently and with others
• Must be able to periodically work off shifts and overtime
• Valid Drivers License and reliable driving record (required)

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications:

• Technical Degree in Welding is preferred
• ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Certification & ICC Structural Welding Certification highly preferred
• Previous construction materials testing experience is preferred*
  • CMT experience provides opportunity to transition into a full-time role
