Carpenters Assistant
Reports To: Lead Carpenter
Status: Reg. Full-Time (Non-Exempt)
- Demonstrate the Winnebago Tribes core mission vision and values.
- Needs to be knowledgeable of new construction and remodeling projects with the carpenter as well as repairs.
- Work involves the performance of assisting Carpenter in various types of construction to include repairs following established routines in and around all tribal facilities. Specific instructions are received on unusual jobs.
- Occasional heavy lifting is required and work is inspected while in progress for adherence to instructions and work standards.
- Assist in the construction and repair of structural woodwork and equipment in establishment working from blueprints drawings or instructions.
- Assist in building repairs and installation of counters cabinets benches partitions floors doors building framework and trim.
- Installs glass in windows doors and partitions.
- Replace damaged ceiling tile floor tile and wall coverings.
- Install small items such as window shades venetian blinds curtain rods wall fans and door locks.
- Will work in all areas of the Facilities Department as needed.

- High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.
- Valid drivers license required; must be able to meet drivers eligibility guidelines for insurance.
- Three (3) year prior experience in all phases of the construction industry as it pertains to the carpentry field.
- Must have own tools.
- Must be knowledgeable of blueprint reading.
- Both indoor and outdoor assignments are involved with occasional exposure to inclement weather. May be required to work extended hours. Assignments are subject to change without advance notice.
- Must attend all department meetings and training courses as directed by Facilities Manager.
- Normal to heavy work which includes the ability to lift over 75 lbs.
- Regularly required to walk stand and sit for extended periods of time and use hands and feet to operate power equipment and company vehicles.
- While performing daily duties the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

- Must possess the ability to read write and speak the English language fluently.
- Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
