Job Summary

Position:Caregiver Child Development Center - Bilingual Spanish Required

Department: Student Services

Program: Helensview School

Reports to: Building Principal

Classification/Range: Classified/Range 8

Schedule: 190days per year 7 hours per day

NATURE & SCOPE:

This position is subject to board policies administrative rules and procedures department regulations and applicable state and federal statutes. This position carries no administrative authority or responsibility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • To adhere to and implement guidelines set forth in Helensview High School ChildDevelopment Center procedures handbook.
  • To implement and comply with rules set forth by State Child Care Division.
  • To organize materials and implement activities that support the natural growth of thechild and are designed for individual stages of development.
  • To provide general care for children including formula preparation preparing and serving meals snacks diapering cleaning comforting a manner that promotes child partici pation cooperating and developmentally appropriate independence.
  • To model positive interpersonal interactions with children students co-workers andothers.
  • To keep the classroom and other common areas clean free of clutter and orderly.
  • To maintain daily records and reports for each child.
  • To communicate with high school student provide records information and observation on a daily basis regarding their childs health and developmental activity.
  • To keep Lead Caregiver/Supervisor/Principal informed in a timely manner of anyareas with significant concern.
  • To attend staff meetings as needed or requested.
  • To adhere to the policies of the district and procedures of the department.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • To perform other job-related duties as assigned by the school principal or whichare indicated to assure the physical and emotional well-being of children and students.
  • Provides back-up support to other positions in case of absence or work overload.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a Child Development Center ; involves lifting children weight up to 45 lbs.; and may involve exposure to contagious germs and other adverse conditions.



KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • First Aid/CPR certification (Infant/Toddler)
  • Food Handlers Card
  • Demonstrated skill in communicating with others both written and oral
  • Bilingual or multilingual in Spanish
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or G.E.D. with one year full-time paid work experience in a certified day care center or comparable group child care program in the care of infants/toddlers or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills knowledge and ability required to perform the job.
