  1. Introduction

Staff will serve as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) Data Analyst responsible for analyzing unmanned aerial system (UAS) operational data protective mission flight intercepts and National Capital Region (NCR) UAS activity in support of daily protective operations and long-term trend analysis.

  1. Major Duties and Responsibilities

UAS Data Analysis and Trend Monitoring

  • Collects reviews and analyzes daily UAS detection and intercept data for the NCR and protective trip locations.
  • Identifies patterns anomalies and emerging threats related to unauthorized UAS flights.
  • Prepares trend analyses and develops predictive models to support proactive security postures.

Operational Support

  • Provides daily analytical products and briefings to Customer leadership regarding UAS threats intercept activity and operational readiness.
  • Supports trip planning and field operations by identifying high-risk airspace sectors and potential repeat offenders.
  • Coordinates with the Customer Branches and interagency partners (FAA DHS DoD) for data sharing and deconfliction.

Reporting and Briefings

  • Prepares executive summaries dashboards and written reports on UAS and counter-UAS activity for CUSTOMER leadership.
  • Delivers intelligence-driven assessments that inform policy operational decisions and resource allocation.
  • Maintains databases and visualization tools for trend reporting and leadership decision support.

Policy and Program Development

  • Assists in drafting SOPs and guidance for collection analysis and reporting of UAS activity data.
  • Recommends program improvements technology integration and analytical methodologies to enhance ASDs counter-UAS mission.
  • Contributes to interagency working groups on UAS security and data standards.

III. Must have Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Data Modeling & Statistical Forecasting: Develop predictive models to anticipate potential UAS threats using statistical techniques such as regression clustering and time-series analysis.
  • Apply machine learning algorithms to improve threat classification and response strategies.
  • Knowledge of unmanned aerial systems counter-UAS technologies and FAA regulatory framework (Part 107 TFRs Remote ID).
  • Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of UAS intercept data including geospatial and trend analysis.
  • Proficiency with analytical tools and software (Excel Power BI/Tableau ArcGIS or equivalent).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to prepare daily executive-level reports and briefings.
  • Knowledge of interagency coordination processes (FAA DHS DoD) related to restricted airspace and air defense operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-tempo protective operations environment.
  1. Supervisory Controls

Staff will work under the general supervision of the CUSTOMER PMO Counter-UAS Operations. Assignments are carried out with considerable independence and completed products are reviewed for overall effectiveness and alignment with mission objectives.

  1. Complexity and Scope

The position requires synthesizing diverse datasets from multiple sources and developing actionable insights to support protective operations. The work directly impacts the ability of the CUSTOMER to identify and mitigate UAS threats to CUSTOMER and secure the NCR airspace.

VII. Physical Demands and Work Environment

The work is primarily sedentary in an office setting but requires frequent extended hours high-tempo operations during protective trips and occasional field support for special events.
