Location: Fully remote throughout Virginia. There is no regular requirement to report to an office. You must be available for in-person court appearances when required with appearances primarily in Richmond and matters handled throughout Virginia.
Note: Must have an active Virginia Bar license in good standing and 1 year of hands-on Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy experience. We are looking for an attorney who has actual experience handling bankruptcy matters and can progressively take ownership of petitions schedules exemptions plan issues 341 meetings motions trustee and creditor issues and routine hearings.

Job Description
- Conduct initial consultations and bankruptcy intakes with prospective clients.
- Provide legal advice regarding Chapter 7 Chapter 13 and related bankruptcy matters.
- Conduct attorney petition reviews and ensure clients understand their petitions schedules statements plans and other filing documents.
- Prepare clients for and represent debtors at 341 Meetings of Creditors.
- Represent clients at bankruptcy court hearings throughout Virginia as necessary.
- Draft and review motions objections responses proposed orders and other bankruptcy pleadings.
- Address confirmation issues claims motions for relief from stay motions to dismiss plan modifications discharge issues and other matters arising during bankruptcy cases.
- Review cases and petitions identify legal issues and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Provide legal direction to paralegals and legal assistants when attorney involvement is required.
- Communicate with clients trustees creditors opposing counsel and court personnel.
- Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to resolve case issues efficiently.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and the firms case-management processes.
- Leverage technology automation and AI-enabled tools to improve legal and business workflows.
- Take on increasing responsibility as your experience and knowledge of the practice grow.
Qualifications
- Active Virginia Bar license in good standing.
- 1 year of hands-on Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy experience.
- Experience handling bankruptcy petitions schedules exemptions plans 341 meetings motions trustee issues creditor issues and hearings.
- Strong legal writing communication judgment and courtroom skills.
- Comfortable advising clients and exercising independent professional judgment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote environment.
- Willingness and ability to appear in bankruptcy courts throughout Virginia when required.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in taking on increasing responsibility.
- Comfortable working in a technology-driven environment and open to using automation and artificial intelligence.
- Admission to the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia is preferred or willingness and eligibility to obtain admission.
- Chapter 11/Subchapter V experience is a plus but not required.
