The Strategic Sourcing Software Manager at AWS leads the development and execution of software acquisition strategies for our Hardware and Networking divisions. This role combines strategic sourcing expertise with deep understanding of software ecosystems and CPU/GPU technologies to secure critical software solutions that power AWSs infrastructure. Youll work across engineering teams legal and vendors to optimize our software portfolio while ensuring competitive advantage in the rapidly evolving cloud computing landscape.
Key job responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive software sourcing strategies aligned with AWSs technical roadmap
Lead complex negotiations for software agreements and licenses across multiple vendors
Build and maintain strategic relationships with key software partners and internal stakeholders
Collaborate with engineering teams to understand technical requirements and evaluate solutions
Analyze spend data and market trends to identify cost optimization opportunities
Drive process improvements in software acquisition and lifecycle management
Ensure compliance with legal requirements and internal policies
Manage cross-functional programs with significant business impact

A day in the life
You will be working closely with several business partners to manage the Semiconductor business on a day to day basis but will be heavily focused on mid and long-term technology sourcing strategies. You will partner closely with hardware engineering team to devise sourcing and technology development plans to launch next generation custom hardware. This will include interactions with hardware server development teams network design and deployment engineering teams rack integration finance legal and others. You will be heavily focused on roadmap planning and execution against a technology migration strategy. You will leverage your expertise to build supplier relationships and architect agreements to support AWS growing infrastructure. You will make responsible sourcing decisions that consider customer security time to market technology benefit quality and cost.
- Experience explaining complex technical concepts to various business and technical audiences
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Computer Science or Business Administration required
- Experience in technology sourcing and vendor management
- Minimum 5 years experience in software licensing and strategic sourcing
- Minimum 3 years experience working directly with engineering teams
- Proven track record of successful contract negotiations and program management
- Excellent Written and verbal communication abilities
- Masters degree in business data science public administration finance engineering human resources or related field or PMP certificate
- Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
- Experience identifying negotiating and executing complex legal agreements
- Experience designing implementing and scaling workforce development programs across large-scale operations including forecasting workforce needs and leveraging analytics to drive program decisions
- Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations across leadership and cross-functional teams
- Experience using analytical tools for workforce metrics and reporting
- Masters degree in a related technical field

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
