Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Developer with strong hands-on experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support enterprise-level application development and cloud modernization initiatives for CalSTRS. This role involves designing developing and maintaining scalable cloud-native solutions working closely with DevOps Security and cross-functional teams to deliver secure resilient and high-performing applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design develop and deploy applications on the AWS cloud platform.
- Build and manage RESTful APIs and web applications (Python or C#).
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub.
- Develop and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation).
- Work with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS) for containerized deployments.
- Design and integrate SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL PostgreSQL MongoDB DynamoDB).
- Apply cloud security best practices including encryption and secrets management.
- Monitor application performance and optimize for cost scalability and reliability.
- Support cloud modernization and migration initiatives.
- Collaborate with architects developers and business stakeholders.
- Create documentation runbooks and knowledge transfer materials.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with AWS including:EC2 S3 Lambda IAM
- Minimum 3 years of experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Infrastructure as Code: Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation
- Strong development experience in: Python or C#
- Minimum 3 years of experience with containerization: Docker and Kubernetes (EKS preferred)
- Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases
- Hands-on experience with: Encryption standards Secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager Vault) Compliance frameworks (HIPAA GDPR SOC2)
Nice to Have
- Experience with AWS Well-Architected Framework
- Cloud migration / modernization experience
- Experience with AWS cost optimization tools
- Familiarity with cloud security tools (AWS Config Security Hub)
- Experience with logging/monitoring tools (CloudWatch Splunk)
- Scripting experience (Bash PowerShell)
- Exposure to AI/ML services (SageMaker) is a plus
