The Automation Systems Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining HMI and visualization systems used to monitor and control our industrial beef processing sites. This role works closely with PLC and controls engineers to integrate equipment into plant automation systems and improve system performance.
The role is based at our corporate office located approximately 10 minutes from the manufacturing facility allowing regular collaboration with plant operations.
Responsibilities
HMI & Visualization Development
Design develop and maintain HMI graphics used to monitor and control plant processes.
Configure HMI systems to communicate with PLCs and automation equipment.
Improve existing graphics for usability clarity and operational efficiency.
Automation System Integration
Support integration of new equipment into the plant automation environment.
Work with controls engineers to configure tags and communication between PLCs and HMI systems.
Participate in testing and commissioning of automation system updates.
System Monitoring & Troubleshooting
Support plant operations by troubleshooting automation system issues.
Analyze control system data to identify system performance issues.
Assist operations and maintenance teams in resolving automation-related problems.
System Maintenance & Reliability
Maintain HMI system configuration and historical data systems.
Support system backups and configuration management.
Assist with user access and security for control systems.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in automation improvement projects.
Support development of new tools or system enhancements that improve plant visibility and control.
Additional

Qualifications
Skills and Abilities
HMI / SCADA configuration and graphic development.
PLC integration and basic PLC programming or troubleshooting.
Tag configuration and data mapping between PLCs and HMI systems.
Industrial automation system troubleshooting.
Demonstrated Competencies
Analytical Thinking-Ability to analyze automation system data and troubleshoot issues affecting equipment or processes.
Problem Solving-Uses logical and systematic approaches to diagnose control system issues and implement solutions.
Attention to Detail-Ensures accuracy when developing HMI graphics configuring tags and managing system data.

Office setting and industrial manufacturing setting.
Experience:Minimum 1 year of relevant automation or controls experience including HMI SCADA or PLC. Education:Technical degree is preferred in a related area such as a SCADA or electromechanical program. Department: Systems Engineer
