Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Audit Associate:
#1. Bachelors degree in Accounting completed prior to employment start date
#2. CPA certification in progress actively pursuing CPA or clear intention to pursue CPA designation
#3. Up to 3 years of public accounting experience and/or relevant public accounting internship experience
#4. Exposure to nonprofit organizations nonprofit accounting nonprofit audits or Form 990-related work
#5. Working knowledge of GAAP audit procedures and financial reporting principles with strong communication and organizational skills
Responsibilities of the Audit Associate:
Assist with audits reviews and compilations under supervision of Audit Seniors and Managers
Participate in nonprofit and not-for-profit audit engagements
Prepare and organize audit work papers and supporting documentation
Assist with preparation of financial statements and footnote disclosures
Support audit planning budgets and engagement administration activities
Support preparation of Form 990 information returns for nonprofit organizations
Research accounting and audit concepts and communicate findings appropriately
Build and maintain strong client and internal relationships
Communicate engagement status and issues effectively
Participate in training and ongoing professional development
Requirements of the Audit Associate:
CPA certification or active CPA candidate status strongly preferred
Public accounting internship experience
Experience supporting nonprofit organizations or nonprofit audit engagements
Experience with Form 990 preparation
Exposure to nonprofit reporting requirements
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Strong analytical and research capabilities
Work Environment:
Hybrid work structure
Monthly office travel required
Mandatory in-office onboarding and training
