Associate Attorney Energy

Location: Albany NY; New York NY; or New Haven CT (Hybrid)Experience Level: 3 years of general regulatory administrative law and/or litigation experience; energy experience preferred but not requiredAbout the Role: Harris Beach Murthas Energy Industry Team is seeking an associate to support a broad range of regulatory and litigation matters. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with team members and clients on issues related to project development and siting regulatory compliance enforcement proceedings and dispute resolution. Our clients span the energy sector and include electric generation and battery storage facility owners transmission companies utilities (electric gas and water) energy service companies submetering providers and large commercial energy Energy Associate will have the opportunity to:Represent clients with regulatory matters before state and federal administrative agenciesSupport project development by planning pre-application strategy preparing and filing applications and securing permitsConduct legal research on federal and state statues regulations and agency orders and draft memorandaDraft a variety of legal documents including administrative petitions agency comments complaints and answers memoranda of law and discovery materialsWork Environment and Expectations:A hybrid work opportunity in Harris Beach Murthas Albany NY or New Haven CT officeMinimum annual billable requirement of 1800 hoursApplications are encouraged and desired if you have:Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law schoolAdmission to New York State Bar (or ability to waive in)Strong legal research and writing skillsExcellent verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced team-oriented environmentStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to quickly absorb and analyze new informationHigh attention to detail and commitment to quality workProfessional collaborative and adaptable approachAbility to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organizationMilitary experience welcomeSalary information below will vary depending relevant experience for the position and geographic NY:$New York NY: $148000 - $185000Harris Beach Murtha is not accepting candidate submissions from recruiting agencies for this position during the first two weeks after posting.
