Virginia Tech is seeking two Associate Application Analyst to join our Enterprise Systems team supporting either Human Resources Applications or Finance Applications. These teams support develop and integrate application software systems and enterprise data that power critical university administrative operations. With a strong focus on technology efficiency collaboration and innovation our teams deliver solutions that support Human Resources Payroll Finance and the employees who rely on these services every day.
As an Associate Application Analyst you will:
- Assist in analyzing business processes and systems to identify opportunities for improvement and increased efficiency.
- Partner with HR Payroll or Finance stakeholders to support the design testing implementation and maintenance of solutions that solve business challenges.
- Apply developing technical skills to support applications integrations reporting data analysis and troubleshooting efforts.
- Assist in documenting procedures processes and system functionality while ensuring clear communication across stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues across functional and technical teams.
- Work independently while receiving guidance and mentorship from experienced analysts and technical staff.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree or a combination of education training and progressive experience that equates to a Bachelors degree.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to analyze business processes
Foundational understanding of human resources payroll finance or other administrative business processes or a demonstrated ability to learn new functional areas quickly.
Familiarity with relational databases and basic knowledge of SQL
Effective teamwork and collaboration skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience developing scripts code or reports using languages such as Java Groovy PL/SQL SAS or SQR
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to ERP HRIS Payroll Finance or other enterprise administrative systems.
Exposure to higher education administrative practices applications and integrations.
Exposure to APIs integrations or low-code/no-code platforms such as Boomi
Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle and integration practices
Exposure to web application frameworks such as Angular or React
