Job Summary

The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan seeks an Assistant Stage Manager to join their team! The Assistant Stage Manager will join our Youth Theater program for children 5-15 Off-Broadway on Amsterdam. The Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) supports the Stage Manager and creative team while helping guide young performers. Responsibilities include tracking props managing backstage movement during tech and performances assisting in the rehearsal room (on book) and ensuring a safe inclusive environment for minor cast members.

Throughout Off- Broadway on Amsterdam rehearsals children will explore and develop imagination character concentration professionalism and technique while strengthening the command of their bodies and voices in this supportive environment. Children will develop their skills in partnership with and alongside professional actors musicians choreographers and technicians. These rehearsals culminate in a weekend of performances of this seasons show School of Rock: Young Actors Edition.

Candidates must be available Sundays 10:00 AM-12:30 PM for rehearsals October 18th 2026-May 23rd 2027. An additional schedule will be provided for Production Meetings Tech Week and performances.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Track blocking choreography manage rehearsal props and help keep young cast members focused and on schedule.
  • Assist in backstage operations during tech rehearsals and performances assist in scene shifts and supervise youth run-crew members.
  • Serve as the communication link between Stage Management the Creative Team and Student Actors.
  • Help maintain a positive structured and safe environment for children while guiding them through the rehearsal process.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior experience with stage management.
  • Strong organizational communication and multi-tasking skills.
  • Experience working with children ages 5-15 in a drop off program
  • Proactive open to learning and growing with mentoring from supervisors and creative team.
  • A kind warm welcoming and reflective demeanor.

COMPENSATION

  • This role offers a rate of $40-$50 per hour commensurate with experience.
