Job Summary:

The Political Science Department at Marist University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Political Science position in International Relations and Public Policy beginning Fall 2027. We are seeking a broadly trained candidate who can teach introductory and advanced courses in international relations (including political economy) and public policy (including global health and healthcare policy). This position requires the ability and willingness to teach classes broadly across the discipline.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must have a PhD in Political Science in hand before the start date of the appointment. Teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness at the college level is required.

Essential Functions:

The teaching load will be 3-4 but faculty who achieve and maintain an outstanding record of scholarship may be eligible for a 3-3 teaching addition to teaching and research responsibilities faculty participate regularly in service activities for our students Marist University and the community.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Political Science conferred by the time of appointment

    • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee spouse and dependent children under age 26.
    • University pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

About the Department/School:

The Political Science Department includes 8 faculty members and offers a BA in Political Science and a Minor in Political Science. The department contributes substantially to our interdisciplinary programs in Africana Studies American Studies Latin American & Caribbean Studies and Womens Gender and Sexuality Studies. The Political Science Department is housed in the School of Liberal Arts which includes departments in English History World Languages & Cultures and Philosophy & Religious Studies. The School of Liberal Arts is also home to the Hudson River Valley Institute and the Marist Institute for Public Opinion.
