Assistant Offset Print Press Operator

Job Summary
Core Responsibilities
Pre-Press & Setup: Assist the operator with make-ready processes. This includes mounting press plates installing blankets and setting up ink fountains and registers.
Material Management: Transport and load heavy rolls or stacks of paper stock into the press feeders or automatic splicers. 1 2
Quality Control: Collect and visually examine random printed sheet samples alongside the operator to monitor ink density color matching and registration alignment.
Press Maintenance & Cleaning: Perform routine cleaning of the press blankets and ink rollers using approved solvents. Assist with preventive maintenance and lubrication.
Record Keeping: Maintain daily time logs production counts and track material usage.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Generally requires 1-2 years of experience in a commercial print binding or reprographics environment.
Physical Demands: Requires the ability to stand for long shifts and frequently lift pull or move heavy objects/cases of paper (often up to 5075 lbs).
Skills: Good eye-hand coordination strong color perception basic math skills and a mechanical aptitude for operating and adjusting auxiliary press equipment.
Schedule: As a commercial 24/7 manufacturing facility shift flexibility (including rotating night or weekend shifts) is commonly required.
Qualifications
- High school GED or equivalent
- Experience in production environment a must preferred to have experience in commercial printing
