Assistant Deli Manager

The Assistant Deli Manager supports the Deli Manager in overseeing all aspects of Deli Department operations to achieve sales profitability customer service and operational objectives. This position assists with team leadership food production merchandising inventory management food safety compliance and maintaining a high-quality shopping experience for customers.

• Assist in managing daily Deli Department operations.
• Ensure deli products are properly prepared packaged stocked rotated and merchandised.
• Maintain high standards for product quality freshness and presentation.
• Assist with inventory management ordering and shrink control.
• Ensure pricing signage and promotional displays are accurate and executed according to company standards.
• Monitor department cleanliness organization and equipment maintenance.

• Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience.
• Assist customers with product selection meal solutions catering options and special orders.
• Address customer concerns promptly and professionally.
• Promote deli products seasonal offerings and department programs.

• Assist with hiring onboarding training and coaching department associates.

• Ensure compliance with all food safety sanitation and workplace safety requirements.

• Assist with department audits inspections and corrective action plans.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of department equipment.

• Assist in achieving department sales gross profit labor and shrink objectives.
• Monitor inventory levels and product movement to maximize sales opportunities.
• Support waste reduction and expense control initiatives.
• Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy and controlling operating costs.
• Contribute to plans that improve department performance and profitability.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous deli food service restaurant or grocery experience required.
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation merchandising inventory control food safety and sanitation practices.
• Strong customer service communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to effectively lead and motivate employees in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to stand walk bend reach and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and move products weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and more with assistance when necessary.
• Ability to work in refrigerated environments and around food preparation equipment.
• Ability to safely operate slicers ovens fryers mixers and other department equipment.
