Job Summary

Introduction

The Maryland Department of Assessments andTaxation (SDAT) is seeking qualified external applicants for the position of AssessmentsOffice Manager Assistant B. This opportunity is ideal for anexperienced administrative professional with a background in processingproperty assessment records and forms who is ready to advance into asupervisory role in public service.

Theselected candidate will assist with overseeing clerical operations supervisingand evaluating staff coordinating workloads reviewing production reportsimproving administrative procedures and responding to inquiries from propertyowners government officials other agencies and the public.

We are looking for adependable detail-oriented professional with strong leadershiporganizational customer-service communication and problem-solving must meet the minimum qualifications listed in this announcement tobe considered.

Main Purpose of Job
Responsible for assisting the Assessments Office Manager in all clerical operations within the County Assessment Office.
POSITION DUTIES

Interacts with the general public both in person and byphone to respond to technical issues related to the assessmentprocess property values and/or general office procedures.


Delegates duties to subordinate employees and monitors workflow to insurethe timely and accurate completionof office assignments.

Evaluates subordinate employees to assess work quality byregularly monitoring work performance.

Assists the Office Manager in the development andimplementation of clerical office policy and procedures to improve clericaloffice operations.

Trains and instructs subordinates staff on the job dutiesand office procedures to follow to insure compliance with departmentalprocedures and state regulations.

Preforms others duties as may be required and assigned..

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of clerical or technical experience in processing property assessment records and forms.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience performing general clerical duties on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required education.

2. Candidates may substituteU.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in financial administration and program classification orfinancial administration and program specialty codes in theaccounting and budget field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate should possess one or more of thefollowing:

1. Experience preparing reports correspondence recommendations orother professional documents.

2. Experience using databases electronic records-management systemsMicrosoft Office Google Workspace or similar software.

3. Strong organizational leadership customer-service writtencommunication and problem-solving skills.

4. Experience reviewing staff production reports monitoring workloadsestablishing performance goals and recommending operational improvements.

5. Experience responding to inquiries from government officials otheragencies property owners and the general public.

6. Experience supervising training assigning work to or evaluatingclerical or administrative staff.
