Job Description
As part of integrating E*TRADE technology with a wealth management client were harmonizing development practices into a unified developer experience built on polyglot product-aligned GitHub mono-repos.
This role empowers developers to ship high-quality code faster by designing automating andsupporting the platform tooling CI/CD and AI-assisted workflows that span Java and Python stacks.
What Youll Do
Migrate & consolidate: Move projects from Bitbucket Server into product-aligned GitHub mono-repos across multiple teams and stacks ( Java Python).
Own the monorepo workflow: Build and maintain unified tooling with Nx Lerna and pnpm workspaces - affected-graph builds task caching and project scaffolding.
Modernize builds: Standardize Java builds (Maven with Gradle migration where it pays off) integrated with JFrog Artifactory and our Train deployment system.
Design CI/CD: Build GitHub Actions pipelines - reusable workflows matrix builds caching and supply-chain controls (SBOM dependency and secret scanning) - partnering with the squads that own shared CI/CD infrastructure.
Advance AI-assisted DevEx: Extend GitHub Copilot custom agents reusable prompts/instructions and MCP tooling to automate migration review and repetitive engineering work; add linters static analysis and codegen.
Make systems observable: Implement logging tracing and alerting (OpenTelemetry Prometheus Grafana) for visibility and performance insight.
Share knowledge: Document and champion the teams tooling processes and practices with development partners.
What Youll Bring
7 years in DevOps platform or application engineering (Java and/or JavaScript/TypeScript).
AI-assisted development: Mid-level or stronger hands-on use of AI coding tools and agentic workflows (GitHub Copilot Copilot/Claude agents prompt engineering MCP) on real delivery work.
Build & package systems: Multi-language tooling (pnpm/npm Maven/Gradle uv/pip) and monorepo conventions (Nx Lerna pnpm workspaces or equivalents).
Platform fundamentals: Linux advanced Git (GitHub and Bitbucket) containers with Podman (rootless/daemonless) and Docker-compatible workflows plus Kubernetes/orchestration.
Scripting: Strong skills in Python Bash Groovy or JavaScript/TypeScript.
Soft skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving ability excellent written/verbal English and a self-motivated team player who adapts quickly.
Nice-to-Have
Software supply-chain security (SBOM SCA/SAST such as Snyk and SonarQube secret scanning).
Deep observability practice with OpenTelemetry Prometheus and Grafana.
Dependency management at scale (Dependabot or Renovate) and authoring AI agent customizations (agents skills instruction files) to standardize automation.
Broader SDLC process knowledge.
