Summary:
The QC Scientist I is responsible for performing routine analytical testing and documentation activities in support of pharmaceutical manufacturing operations within the QC Analytical Chemistry Laboratory. This role focuses on residual active pharmaceutical ingredient and detergent analysis using chromatographic and analytical instrumentation including HPLC Mass Spectrometry and TOC systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong chemistry background knowledge of cGMP practices and hands-on analytical laboratory experience.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine chemical testing of residual swab samples using internally developed analytical methods.
- Perform validated pharmaceutical residual analysis using HPLC Mass Spectrometry and TOC techniques.
- Prepare test solutions mobile phases and diluents required for laboratory analysis.
- Perform daily instrument calibration and verification activities as needed.
- Recognize investigate and report out-of-specification or unexpected analytical results.
- Accurately document testing activities and analytical results in accordance with SOPs and laboratory procedures.
- Maintain laboratory instrumentation work areas and compliance documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and safety standards.
- Support internal development and manufacturing operations through effective communication and teamwork.
- Participate in training and continuous learning opportunities to improve technical knowledge and laboratory skills.
Required Skills:
- Bachelors degree or higher in Chemistry or related physical science field.
- 1 2 years of experience performing chemical testing using chromatographic techniques preferred.
- Working knowledge of HPLC and Mass Spectrometry instrumentation and analytical methods.
- Understanding of qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical quality and regulatory requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of cGMP SOPs and laboratory safety procedures.
- Ability to stand walk bend kneel crouch and move throughout laboratory areas for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing between 10 35 lbs.
- Frequent use of laboratory PPE including safety glasses gloves lab coats aprons and respirators as required.
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment and computer systems for prolonged periods.
