Under the general supervision the Accommodation Specialist analyzes and interprets students disability-related documentation including psycho-educational documentation for determination of accommodations disability-related support and learning strategy support through an interactive intake process with students including students who are Learning Disabled. The incumbent assists students with educational problems related to their disabling condition and learning experience at CSUN including screening for learning disabilities.

  • Assists students with educational problems related to their disabling condition and learning experience at CSUN including screening for learning disabilities.
  • Provides student development and engagement services through individual counseling group facilitation career development activities and community-building programs.
  • The counselor also develops and delivers training for faculty and staff leads student groups and workshops and facilitates activities that promote student connection engagement self-advocacy and a sense of belonging within the campus community.
  • Serves as an information resource for prospective students staff and faculty on disability issues and the provision of college access and accommodations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related is preferred.

  • Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience at the postsecondary education level and experience in providing student development counseling preferred.
  • A Masters degree in Counseling Clinical Psychology Social Work or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
