The Academic Advisor is responsible for providing comprehensive academic guidance and enrollment support services to students while promoting their educational success and retention through personalized guidance resource connection and academic planning at East Central University.
Essential Job Duties
Advise and assist students course selection academic planning and degree requirements through regular meaningful meetings to support their academic success. Enroll students in appropriate courses to maximize their potential for success. Create and implement educational events focused on student development and retention. Provide strategies and resources for academic success including time management and study skills. Administer and coordinate placement tests. Maintain accurate student data records using various database systems. Monitor and track student progress and academic performance. Conduct proactive outreach to at-risk students and those on academic probation. Develop and implement intervention plans to support student success. Respond to student and faculty inquiries regarding academic matters. Collaborate with other university departments to provide comprehensive student support. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree required Masters degree preferred Experience in higher education student services or academic advising preferred Experience working with diverse student populations preferred

Valid drivers license

Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with diverse populations Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions in a fast-paced environment Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail Proficient in using student information systems and standard office technology Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately Knowledge of academic policies procedures and degree requirements Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example Must be a professional credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
