About the Role

As a union mateyoull be an essential part of our mission to provide safe and reliable maritime services. Youll work alongside a dedicated team that values professionalism collaboration and continuous improvement.

What Youll Do

  • Train on the intricacies of vessel maneuvering port operations customer service engineering and safety.
  • Train on and gain first hand experience with marine propulsion systems various towing configurations and ship assist methods.
  • Required to understand the fundamentals of propulsion on the vessels they work on.
  • Gain training and practical experience in rigging synthetic line care and utilization ISM compliance SMS (Safety Management System) and VMS (Vessel Management System) procedures as well as leadership development.

What Were Looking For

  • 500 Ton Mate Near Coastal/Oceans or 3rd Mate Unlimited.
  • Valid Merchant Mariners Credential (MMC) and a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Must be able to climb aboard tugs and barges ascend and descend ladders and balance while aboard vessels in a seaway.
  • Must be able to kneel stoop use stairs reach overhead and stand for long periods of time.
  • Will be required to complete TOAR (Mate of Tow) if not already obtained.
  • Must join the IBU (Inland Boatmans Union) within 30 days of hire.

What We Offer

  • Pay for this position is $720 per estimated annual compensation is $131400 based on an even-time schedule of 182.5 working days per year.
