Job Summary

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated middle school social studies teacher who excels at engaging students in the exploration of history geography civics and culture. KIPP Indy teachers are responsible for delivering rigorous student-centered instruction that fosters critical thinking and global awareness.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan develop and implement high-quality lesson plans that align with state standards for social studies. 
  • Utilize engaging strategies to teach historical inquiry cultural perspectives and civic responsibility. 
  • Regularly assess and track student performance using data to guide instruction and promote student growth. 
  • Create and maintain an inclusive organized and student-focused classroom environment. 
  • Build strong relationships with students families and the community to support academic success. 
  • Collaborate with the academic team to execute lessons and contribute to curriculum planning. 
  • Scaffold lessons to accommodate all learners including multilingual and special education students. 
  • Incorporate feedback to continuously improve teaching practices. 
  • Engage in school-wide events family conferences and other opportunities for professional collaboration. 
  • Participate actively in ongoing coaching observation and feedback cycles team learning and required professional development; implement feedback and agreed-upon action steps to strengthen instructional practice. 

EXPECTATIONS 

  • Arrive at school by 8:10 a.m. 
  • Attend professional development including summer onboarding. 
  • Track and analyze student data regularly and attend team meetings. 
  • Fulfill all expectations outlined in the KIPP Employee Handbook.

Qualifications :

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Indiana teaching license or in the process of applying for reciprocity with a valid out-of-state license (required). 
  • Bachelors degree in education English or a related field (required). 
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in ELA (preferred). 
  • Strong understanding of literacy development and the ability to cultivate a love of reading and writing in students. 
  • Pass a criminal background check as required by law (required). 

Additional Information :

Licensed teacher starting at $50000
Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a highly competitive benefits package. Opportunities for performance-based bonuses are also available.
