Summary:
The Senior Tenancy Relations Officer will play a key role within the Housing Regulation service working in partnership with Housing Demand services to regulate and improve standards within the private rented sector prevent homelessness and promote lawful and sustainable housing outcomes. The role will focus on tenancy relations housing enforcement landlord and tenant compliance and robust application of housing legislation to address unlawful practices and tenancy-related disputes.
Responsibilities:
Provide specialist advice guidance and support to tenants landlords residents and stakeholders regarding housing rights tenancy responsibilities and landlord obligations under housing legislation.
Educate landlords tenants and service users on legal obligations housing standards and compliance requirements to improve understanding and reduce tenancy disputes.
Investigate complaints allegations and reports of unlawful eviction harassment anti-social behaviour unlicensed activity tenancy breaches and illegal housing practices.
Ensure investigations and legal proceedings are conducted in accordance with statutory timescales evidential standards and procedural requirements.
Qualifications:
Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience in Housing Environmental Health Public Health Law Regulatory Services Community Safety or a related discipline.
Essentials:
Evidence of continuing professional development in housing law tenancy relations homelessness prevention enforcement safeguarding or investigation practice.
Strong knowledge of housing legislation including the Housing Act 1988 Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 Protection from Eviction Act 1977 Renters Rights legislation and relevant case law is essential.
Significant experience working within tenancy relations housing enforcement environmental health housing demand homelessness prevention or regulatory services
Current and valid UK driving licence is essential.
