We have a fantastic opportunity for a Revenues and Benefits Assessment Officer to join our service and supportthe delivery ofseveralstatutory and discretionary functions.

The Revenues and Benefits Service sits at the heart of our local authority.The team calculates and collects income by way of local taxes council tax and non-domestic rates and usesspecialist systems to administer and assess the claims for housing benefit council taxreductionand other welfare benefits.

As the Assessment Officer you willbe responsible forassessing and reviewing customers personal and financial circumstances to assess entitlement to housing council tax and other welfare benefits to support the most vulnerable with their housing costs and tomaximisetheir income by selecting and awardingappropriate benefits exemptionsreliefor discounts.

You will be the first point of contact to customersto provideadviceyou will manage a dedicated caseload and as part of yourrole you will also administer and bill for council tax and sundry debts including overpaid housing benefit.

We are looking for an empathetic and assertivecandidatewith detailed knowledge of legislation in respect of council tax administration housingbenefitsand national welfare IT skills communicationskillsand being emotionally resilientisessential in this role.
