Job Summary

3 months contract with a local authority

Job Purpose

  • The Personal Advisor supports and manages a caseload of young people transitioning from care to independence ensuring they receive appropriate practical emotional social and financial guidance.
  • The role focuses on enabling care leavers to successfully move into adulthood by supporting their engagement in education training and employment securing suitable accommodation and developing the skills needed for independent living in line with statutory duties and safeguarding requirements.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

  • Manage a caseload of care leavers aged 16 providing tailored advice and support to promote independence.
  • Build strong supportive relationships with young people to encourage engagement and positive outcomes.
  • Provide onetoone and group support focused on preparing young people for independent living.
  • Contribute to the assessment and development of Pathway Plans for each young person.
  • Ensure plans are regularly reviewed and updated in line with changes in circumstances.
  • Support young people to actively participate in their plans and decisionmaking.

Essential Experience Required

  • Experience working with young people particularly care leavers or vulnerable individuals.
  • Experience managing caseloads and providing structured support or casework.
  • Experience working in a multiagency environment with a range of professionals.
  • Experience supporting individuals into education employment or training is desirable.

Essential Qualifications Required

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in social care youth work or a related field.
  • Knowledge of legislation relating to children leaving care and safeguarding.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by care leavers and young people transitioning to independence.

Additional information to note

  • Working hours: 35 hours per week
  • Enhanced DBS required.
  • We work on bi-weekly schedule.

Required Skills:
