Job Summary

Contract: Permanent 40 hours per week termtime only (39 weeks per year)

Salary: COL4 plus M4 allowance 36701 to 38588 (Pro-rated to 33675 to 35407)

We are seeking an enthusiastic organised and experienced Lead Technician (Science and Art) to oversee our dedicated technician team and ensure outstanding technical support across both departments. This is a key leadership role central to delivering highquality practical learning experiences for students and supporting teaching staff in bringing lessons to life.

Working closely with the Director of Finance and Resources teaching staff and external partners you will lead on the coordination of resources management of facilities and the delivery of effective technical services. This is a varied and rewarding opportunity for a proactive individual who enjoys leadership collaboration and making a positive impact on the school environment.

What Youll Be Doing

Team Leadership

  • Leading and managing the technician team to ensure effective daily operations.
  • Supporting recruitment onboarding and ongoing performance development of staff.
  • Creating a collaborative supportive and professional working environment.

Lesson & Practical Support

  • Working closely with teaching staff to support the delivery of engaging lessons and projects.
  • Preparing and clearing equipment materials and chemicals in line with lesson requirements.
  • Providing hands-on support during practical sessions where required.
  • Ordering and procuring resources in line with departmental budgets.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Ensuring all activities comply with Health & Safety legislation and school policies.
  • Maintaining up-to-date risk assessments COSHH records and safety documentation.
  • Overseeing safety checks including equipment such as fume cupboards and pressure vessels.
  • Managing the safe storage use and disposal of hazardous materials.

Facilities & Equipment Management

  • Overseeing the maintenance of laboratories workshops preparation areas and storage facilities.
  • Coordinating repairs and maintenance to ensure all equipment is safe and fit for purpose.
  • Managing stock levels conducting regular inventory checks and maintaining accurate records.

Wider School Support

  • Supporting enrichment activities events and outreach opportunities across Science and Art.
  • Collaborating with partner schools and organisations to share best practice.
