Homeless Centre Officer

Permanent

Grade B

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

In this role you will provide practical daytoday support to households experiencing homelessness often in emergency or crisis situations.

Weekly hours will be on a rotabased shift pattern including evenings weekends and bank holidays. Shifts will be from between 8am 9.30pm Monday - Friday and 8am 8.30pm on weekends.

Working within one of our supported accommodation centres across the city you will be part of a team delivering a temporary accommodation service ensuring residents feel safe supported and able to move forward.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting residents on arrival and throughout their stay in temporary accommodation
  • Assisting with housing benefit claims and basic financial arrangements
  • Helping residents plan their move into longer-term accommodation
  • Carrying out room inspections and safety checks
  • Responding flexibly to the needs of individuals and families
  • Writing brief case notes and maintaining accurate records
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to support positive outcomes

About You

  • Be confident working with a diverse range of people including those with complex needs
  • Be able to build trust and positive relationships with residents
  • Have basic IT skills to record case notes and work with simple data
  • Be organised adaptable and able to respond to changing situations
