Our Peterborough office have a new opportunity for an experienced Groundworker to join their BMS Team on a permanent full time PAYE basis.
The main purpose of the role will be for you to undertake all aspects of groundworks on construction projects ensuring work is completed safely efficiently and to the required quality standards. The role will support the successful delivery of new build and refurbishment projects across commercial residential education healthcare and mixed-use developments which are generally with a 50-mile radius of our Peterborough office.
Although specifically groundwork based other construction skills would be an advantage as working in the BMS Team means being versatile in helping others when necessary.
Key Responsibilities: Carry out all aspects of general groundworks including:
Site preparation and clearance.
Excavation and trenching works.
Foundations and footing construction. Drainage installation repairs and testing.
Kerbing edging and paving works.
Concrete works including formwork placing and finishing.
Ducting and service installation.
Backfilling and reinstatement work.
External works and landscaping preparation.
Read and work from construction drawings specifications and site instructions.
Set out work areas using levels tapes and other measuring equipment where
required.
Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and site procedures.
Conduct works in accordance with current legislation and industry best practice.
Ensure all work meets project specifications and quality standards.
Work collaboratively with site managers supervisors subcontractors and other
trades.
Attend toolbox talks site briefings and training sessions.
Provide support and guidance to apprentices and labourers where appropriate.
Maintain professional conduct with clients consultants and members of the
public.
Experience / skills required
Valid CSCS Card.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Relevant Groundworks experience within the construction industry.
Understanding of construction health and safety requirements.
Minimum 3 years experience in groundworks on construction projects.
Experience working on new build and refurbishment projects.
Proven experience in drainage foundations concrete works and external works.
Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
Good understanding of construction methods and materials.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Good communication skills.
Reliable punctual and proactive approach to work.
Versatile in the ability to help other trades as and when necessary
Desirable Requirements
CPCS or NPORS Plant Operator Certification.
Dumper Roller or Excavator tickets.
Street Works (NRSWA) accreditation.
First Aid at Work qualification.
Confined Space Training.
CAT & Genny training.
Experience on projects valued up to 500k.
Experience working within live refurbishment environments.
