DT Teacher

Salary:MPS - UPSFTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked) TLR2Aallowance available for the right candidate

Working Pattern: This is a permanent positionworking 1.0 FTE 39weeks per year.

We are seeking a full time DT Teacher (and Second in Department role for the right candidate)who can teach KS3 & KS4 to join the team inSeptember 2026 or as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching and have a passion forthe subject. We are interested to hear from professionals that have the ability tomake an impact in the classroom and beyond a track record of high-quality
outcomes in the classroom and for someone who has a commitment to students ofall abilities in our comprehensive secondary school.

We are open to consideringexperienced teachers Early Careers Teachers or non-qualified teachers withrelevant teaching experience.

Key Tasks

• To teach Design and Technology to Key Stage 3 and GCSE level.
• For an experienced candidate a Second in Department role is available withleadership TLR

Key Duties and Accountabilities:

• Teach DT across the age and ability range in such a way as to challenge and inspireall students with clear objectives delivered in line with department schemes ofwork and school policies.
• Plan and deliver lessons to students according to their educational needs and withreference to prior attainment SEN and EAL as required striving to ensure equalopportunities for all and to provide students with the opportunity to achieve theirpotential.
• Assess record and report on the development progress and attainment of studentsin line with school policies ensuring that marking and assessment are of
• consistently high quality and in accordance with the school assessment policy.
• Maintain effective behaviour management in the classroom using positivebehaviour strategies to ensure students fully engage in the lesson.
• Monitor the progress and achievement of the students following the course andidentify the appropriate intervention strategies for underachieving students.
• Set high expectations for students and develop their attitude for learning throughfocused teaching and through the development of positive and productiverelationships.
• Manage develop and share resources to enhance teaching of DT.
• Promote enrichment and extension of DT across the department participating anddeveloping events trips and visits.
• Contribute to objectives of the curriculum area within the school objectives andtake part in an annual review of the subject and curriculum area.
• Embrace the continued professional development programme within the schoolstriving to be a lifelong learner maximising opportunities to make impact within the role.
• Be familiar with fully support and reinforce the aims ethos policies andprocedures of the school and Trust with students staff parents and otherstakeholders where and when appropriate.

Pastoral Responsibilities
The pastoral role is of prime importance in supporting the ethos of the school as a placewhere students can be happy and confident and feel encouraged to work hard.
Form Tutor

• Promote the general well-being and progress of students in the tutor group.
• Provide guidance and advice to students on educational and social matters and torespond to their individual needs quickly and in a constructive manner.
• Carefully monitor attendance punctuality and reasons for absence keeping aregister in accordance with legal requirements.
• Record information on students and raise where appropriate with the Head ofYear.
• Deliver the PSHEE curriculum in line with the school timetable.

General

• Attend all departmental and staff meetings.
• Play an active part in the life of the school sharing the aims and objectives of theschool.
• Contribute to the protection of children as appropriate in accordance with anyagreed policies and/or guidelines reporting any issues or concerns to the SchoolsChild Protection Lead.
