Area Manager

When you join Amazon as an Area/Shift Manager youll gain experience leading a large and diverse team to make sure your area of the business keeps pace with this hands-on role youll learn about the complexity of operations at a global business and what it takes to make everything run seamlessly. While you implement your teams approach to drive productivity youll also work closely with your colleagues to address challenges which means no two days will be the same.

Key job responsibilities
You will put your analytical skills to the test and roll up your sleeves to complete actions that will contribute to improving the functionality and level of service that Fulfillment Centers Sortation Centers and Delivery Stations provide to our customers. This will include:
- Diving deep into data mapping processes and problems
- Offering and testing potential solutions and implementing the best one(s)
- Interacting with highly efficient managers technology development teams and front-line Associates thinking broadly about solutions to the most complex business and operational challenges faced by one of the worlds fastest growing operations network

A day in the life
Youll work night shift and be based at one of our operational sites. Your main focus will be to maintain safety standards within your team and across your site. Youll also monitor and maintain process efficiency. Your days will always include prioritising routine team management and daily operational tasks alongside other tasks like individual escalations process improvement work and wide-scale operational contingency planning.

Being a key part of the operations team involves working with colleagues in other teams and external partners to make sure we stay on track to meet our customer demands and targets. This will involve analysing data and performance metrics with leaders in your business area as well as discussing the operational pros and cons of technical improvements with engineers.

Customer Fulfilment or CF is where it all started for Amazon. CF has scaled up from a humble team of booksellers to a sophisticated global team which handles more than 1.5 million orders every day. The team is the foundation of our business and its efforts have helped us diversify across new regions and services. The CF team are the first people in the chain that helps customers get products at the speed were known for. Were based in Fulfilment Centres which are at the heart of Amazons fast-paced Operations network. Our centres are sometimes referred to as the First Mile because its where most Amazon packages start their journey. We help to manage dynamic inventory and facilitate speedy deliveries round the clock.

Lots of different people work in our Fulfilment Centres so there are plenty of opportunities for every skillset. Some of us work with physical products while others analyse data to help everyone across the business make smart decisions.

- Experience in operations management
- Experience working with or evaluating AI systems

- Experience leading and managing a team (external or internal as required)
- Bachelors degree or Bachelor of Arts degree
