Account Manager
Job Summary
Our market leading power purchase agreement (PPA) platform has been changing how renewable energy is sold in the UK for 10 years and were just as ambitious now as we were in 2016. You will own a portfolio of locally led generators: single small assets small portfolios and community energy schemes with account values typically between 350 and 100000.
The job is to keep those clients grow them and make sure every one of them goes to market at the right moment with a properly run tender behind them.
You will sit in a direct team of three alongside the Team Lead and a Junior Sales Executive who brings in new locally led clients. You own what happens once they are ours.
Your portfolio
- Hold the relationship across a defined set of accounts from onboarding through to renewal and beyond.
- Know your clients properly: their assets target pricing their decision making process and their appetite for risk.
- Be the single point of contact clients actually want to call.
Renewals and tendering
- Own the renewals calendar for your accounts. Nothing should reach its end date without a planned conversation well before.
- Coach them to prepare assets for tender: site details sign off processes and timings..
- Coach them to run tenders on the platform interpret the results clearly and enable them to make a decision they understand.
- See contracts through to signature and handover working with the PPA and operations team.
- Own your retention rate of 97%.
Growth
- Identify additional sites portfolios and referrals within your accounts.
- Introduce relevant services where they genuinely fit including licence exempt supply routes REGO sales and asset management support.
- Feed market intelligence back to the team. You will hear things before the rest of us do.
Service and problem solving
- Handle queries on pricing payments metering and data chasing the right internal or external owner until they are resolved.
- Translate technical and commercial detail into plain English for boards trustees and site owners.
- Flag risk early. A client going quiet is information.
Data and reporting
- Keep CRM records accurate and current including contract dates values contacts and next steps.
- Forecast your renewals honestly and keep the forecast up to date.
What good looks like after six months
Targets to be agreed with your Team Lead on joining.
- Retention across your portfolio meets or beats the agreed target.
- Every account has an accurate contract end date and a planned renewal approach in the CRM.
- Measurable growth from your existing accounts through additional sites or services.
- Clients describe the tender process as clear and well run.
Skills and experience
Essential
- Account management client success or relationship led sales experience ideally B2B.
- Genuinely organised. You will be running many accounts against many different deadlines at once.
- Commercially numerate and comfortable talking through pricing and contract terms.
- Able to explain a technical or financial concept to someone who does not work in energy without being patronising about it.
- Confident running client meetings and presenting results.
- Disciplined with CRM and process.
Desirable
- Experience in energy renewables or utilities.
- Understanding of PPAs export routes or licence exempt supply.
- Experience working with community energy organisations charities or volunteer boards.
- HubSpot.
