Assignment context
The UNV Communications associate will be a key member of the World Food Programmes APARO regional outpost based in Bangkok. He/she will support the development maintenance and enhancement of communication visibility through digital communication platforms. The incumbent will work under the guidance of the Regional Head of Communications to strengthen the Regions digital presence and engagement.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of Head of Communications and Media the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
Content production
- Support the development of campaigns and video content for Twitter and other plat-forms coordinating the sourcing of content from such as videos clips images and foot-age about WFPs work in the region from Country Offices.
- Experience in content production and using editing tools such as Canva Wochit and other graphic design and publishing tools and exploring new tools and techniques in-cluding Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make content more interactive and en-gaging.
- Support development of social media campaigns around UN international days assist-ing with production of campaign concept notes and multimedia materials.
Video production
- Draft video scripts according to WFPs priorities and produce text and multimedia prod-ucts including photo stories data visualizations social media posts and undertake ex-tensive multilingual content and audience research to compile relevant information that optimize impactful story telling.
- Produce 1-minute 2-minute videos for Senior Management and other units in the region ready to post on social media platforms.
- Proficiency in graphic design software such as Photoshop Illustrator InDesign; video editing software such as Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
Media Monitoring and reporting
- Monitor and analyze media for current events public opinion press coverage related to the WFPs mandates and operations in the region as well as other issues relevant to WFP brand and positioning.
- Identify and assess potential reputation and risk issues related to communications across digital platforms and suggest corrective actions to the head of regional communications.
- Produce regular social media analytics reports.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the regional head of communications
Requirements
Education:
Bachelors degree in Communications Journalism Media Relations International Relations Public Relations Development Public Policy Humanitarian Affairs Business or other relevant fields
Required experience: Demonstrated interest in:
- Communication
- Crisis and emergency response
- Development programmes
Language skills
Fluent in English
