About 40,000 students are enrolled in Temple's 320 academic programs. Temple's Health Sciences Center includes Temple University Hospital and schools that teach medicine and dentistry. The system has a student-teacher ratio of about 21:1. Dr. Russell Conwell founded Temple University in 1884; it was incorporated as Temple University in 1907.
