Water Resources Engineer

Job Summary
Our client is seeking a skilled Water Resources Engineer to join their Hydrology team in Johannesburg. This opportunity is ideal for a Civil Engineer with strong hydrology and hydraulic modelling expertise who is passionate about delivering innovative water resource solutions across mining industrial and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform hydrological analyses including rainfall runoff and evaporation assessments
- Process and analyse hydrological data and determine key catchment parameters
- Undertake catchment delineation and surface water runoff modelling
- Complete flood peak floodline flood risk and flood hazard assessments
- Develop and assess water balance models including reservoir and dam sizing
- Perform reservoir canal and hydraulic routing analyses
- Design spillways flood attenuation structures erosion protection and hydraulic infrastructure
- Conduct dam break analyses and surface water impact assessments
- Prepare technical reports and engineering documentation
- Manage projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams
Requirements:
- BSc Eng or BEng in Civil Engineering
- MEng or MSc in Hydrology and Hydraulics will be advantageous
- 57 years relevant hydrology and hydraulic engineering experience
- Proven experience developing and assessing water balance models using GoldSim
- Strong understanding of surface water management within mining and industrial environments
- Excellent technical report-writing and communication skills
- Demonstrated project management capabilities
- Valid South African drivers licence
Software Experience:
- GoldSim (essential)
- PCSWMM HEC-RAS UPFLOOD WRSM2005 Flo-2D
- QGIS and/or ArcGIS
- AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Programming experience in Python or Visual Basic will be advantageous
