Job Summary
Our client a network owner is looking for a skilled and experienced Fibre Optic Splicing Technician!
Key Responsibilities:
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Perform fibre splicing termination and testing
- Connect FTTH and FTTB clients to GPON networks
- Diagnose and repair fibre network faults
- Read and work from network designs and technical drawings
- Complete and submit accurate as-built documentation
- Conduct OTDR and power meter testing
- Build and test end-to-end enterprise links
- Work closely with project teams to meet deadlines and project targets
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Minimum 3 years experience in fibre optic splicing installation and testing
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification
- Fibre optic certifications (FOA CFOT or similar) advantageous
- Proficient with OTDRs power meters and fusion splicers
- Strong knowledge of fibre optic standards and best practices
- Experience with underground and aerial fibre installations
- Comfortable working outdoors at heights and in confined spaces
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment
- Valid drivers license and reliable transport required
- Willingness to work flexible hours weekends and standby shifts
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
