The role

As a Spatial Analyst in the Bushfire Program youll sit at the centre of critical decisionmaking that protects people landscapes and infrastructure. Your work will directly support bushfire preparedness response and longterm resilience across NSW. This is a role for someone who thrives on technical depth problemsolving and meaningful purpose.

What youll be doing

Youll lead and contribute to a wide range of spatial and analytical functions including:

• Complex spatial modelling Perform advanced modelling analysis data extraction and reporting to guide operational and strategic bushfire decisions.
• Bushfire spatial database development Design implement and maintain schema changes data models and workflows that keep our systems robust scalable and futureready.
• Spatial system management Oversee the bushfire spatial management system including desktop and field applications used for editing querying data capture validation and reporting.
• Technical GIS support Provide specialist advice troubleshooting and solutions for complex GIS software data quality and spatial system challenges.
• Staff mentoring and training Support bushfire management teams in interpreting and capturing spatial data including delivering training on field data collection tools and spatial applications.
• Documentation and configuration management Maintain clear current and accessible technical procedures configuration documents and training materials.
• Emergency management support Apply your spatial expertise during bushfire and natural disaster response operations when required.

About You

• Strong experience with GIS platforms (e.g. ArcGIS QGIS) and spatial data management.
• Proven ability to design and maintain spatial databases and workflows.
• A knack for translating complex spatial concepts into practical guidance for nontechnical users.
• Calm collaborative energy during highpressure operational periods.
• A passion for using spatial science to protect communities and the environment.

Essential Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or other relevant field and/or experience in the industry.
• Current drivers licence and willingness to travel
