The Quality Assurance & Failure Analysis Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality across the full lifecycle from evidence-based release approval through structured resolution of failures and customer complaints. The role provides single-point ownership for product release quality assurance and for failure complaint and return resolution.

The position works closely with Engineering Project Management Manufacturing and Customers to ensure products are released with confidence and supported by objective evidence. This role supports a structured evidence-driven working style focused on repeatable quality mechanisms clear traceability root cause understanding corrective action and prevention of recurrence.

Essential Duties (Other duties may be assigned)

QA

• Act as the quality authority that approves or blocks product releases (HW FW SW ME) based on objective test evidence.
• Required to perform independent testing where feasible and validate test evidence where direct testing is not possible.
• Own TestRail as the system of record for releaserelevant testing including definition and maintenance of smoke and regression test cases.
• Ensure developers test their own work prior to QA review and support engineering adoption of unit testing and test automation.
• Define and evolve QA procedures and artefacts for the QMS including the release approval records (centred on Design Verification Test (DVT) documentation) that capture release criteria pass/fail conditions definition of done known issues and accepted risks.
• Responsible for producing and maintaining these release approval records for all development work.
• Define and monitor quality metrics (e.g. escaped bugs bugs in production bug age) and ensure visibility via dashboards and or reports.
• Provides input into workflow and process improvements with Engineering and Project Management.

FA

• Own all failures complaints and returns end to end acting as the single point of accountability.
• Log track and close all cases in Helix ensuring full traceability to product version customer and batch.
• Investigate reported failures and coordinate cross discipline root cause analysis (HW FW SW ME).
• Define corrective and preventive actions (short medium and long term) and raise required Jira items (execution managed by PM / Engineering).
• Assess failure impact and recommend technical interventions (containment stock hold rework recall).
• Act as the technical point of contact for customers regarding failures and RMAs.
• Produce and maintain 8D reports where required.
• Monitor failure return and complaint trends across all products and provide visibility of product quality health.
• Feed validated failure learnings back into QA (test cases DVT scope release criteria) once fixes are implemented.

Essential Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Engineering (Electronics Mechatronics Software or similar).
• Experience in quality assurance validation testing or failure analysis within a product development environment.
• Exposure to hardware firmware software and mechanical development lifecycles and experience working with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing and to produce clear technical reports and customer-facing documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with TestRail or similar test management tools.
• Experience with issue-tracking systems such as Jira.
• Experience with Helix or similar RMA / complaint tracking tools.

Work Requirements

• Compliance with all relevant HID Global policies and procedures related to Quality Security Safety Business Continuity and Environmental systems.
• Travel and fieldwork including international travel may be required. Therefore employee must possess or be able to acquire a valid passport.
