Duties & Responsibilities
We are seeking a skilled and motivated PLC Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation programming maintenance troubleshooting and optimization of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems and associated automation equipment to ensure efficient and reliable plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install configure and maintain PLC-based control systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults in PLC hardware software instrumentation and control circuits.
- Modify and update PLC programs to improve system performance and reliability.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.
- Assist with commissioning and start-up of new equipment and production systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
- Conduct system testing calibration and performance verification.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety quality and operational procedures.
- Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel as required.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma Certificate or Trade Qualification in Electrical Engineering Mechatronics Industrial Automation Instrumentation or a related field.
- Minimum 35 years of experience working with PLC systems in an industrial manufacturing mining water or utilities environment.
- Practical experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens Allen-Bradley Schneider Electric Mitsubishi or similar.
- Knowledge of SCADA HMI VSDs instrumentation and industrial communication networks.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and automation systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Valid drivers licence.
