The Mine Manager is responsible for ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining compliance with all applicable mining legislation health and safety standards and environmental requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Minimum Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
- Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (MMCC) (Metalliferous Mines) Mandatory.
- Degree or National Diploma in Mining Engineering or a related mining qualification.
- Minimum of 8 years experience in mining operations with at least 3 years in a Mine Manager role within an open cast mining environment.
- Proven experience in open cast chrome mining.
- Eligible for appointment as the Mine Manager in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA).
- Sound knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA) and relevant mining regulations.
- Valid South African drivers licence.
- Advantageous
- Previous experience in chrome mining operations.
- Experience managing mining contractors.
- Exposure to mine planning and budgeting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the mine.
- Ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and other applicable legislation.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure production targets and operational objectives are achieved.
- Manage operational risks and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Lead and manage mining personnel and contractors.
- Ensure effective utilisation of equipment resources and budgets.
- Oversee statutory reporting and regulatory compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational performance.
